This one-shot suburban odyssey traces the westward relocation of the first synagogue west of the Mississippi River, challenging American social facts at the Gateway to the West, where settler-colonial expansion and white flight move in the same direction. Voices from St. Louis’ Jewish community accompany the changing visual landscape while questioning what it means to establish a minority community on stolen land.
West won the Stacey Woelfel Award for Innovative Journalism at the 2023 Stronger than Fiction Film Festival and screened at the Museum of the Moving Image's First Look 2024.
